At 21, Philosophy for success stays unchanged

Commercial property consultants Carigiet Cowen have reached an
important milestone and are celebrating 21 years in business.
During this time there have been a great deal of changes within
the commercial property market on a locally and on a global basis.
Margaret Bushnell and Christopher Smith, two of the Company's Directors,
have been there throughout. The team has been strengthened by the addition
of Co-Directors Richard Percival and Iain Henderson.

Margaret emphasises that the simple successful company philosophy has remained unchanged over the years. "We continue to provide an efficient professional service to our clients. Since inception to the current day, we have acted for leading local companies The Stobart Group, Carrs Milling Industries, CN Group and Westmoreland Ltd. Our client list continues to grow”.

Since day one, the practice has been at the heart of commercial activity in Carlisle and throughout Cumbria. In the past 10 years in excess of 1,000,000 sq ft of industrial space transactions in the city have been achieved. Carigiet Cowen acted on the major city office developments of Capital Building English Gate Plaza, and the prestigious Gladman Parkhouse Business Park. These developments alone provide in excess of 180,000 sq ft of quality office space.

The firm acts for the highly successful Greggs Bakery and retail instructions have included the successful London Road Retail Park where some 140,000 sq ft of space has occupiers including B & Q, and Pets at Home, and the sale of Bulloughs Department Store on Castle Street to Hoopers..

Elsewhere in the county, Carigiet Cowen acted on the award winning “Royal” retail scheme in Bowness, achieved 40,000 sq ft of transactions at the strategically important Penrith 40 Business Park as well as developments for Priority Sites in Barrow in Furness and Cockermouth.

Looking to the future, the company relocated in 2008 from their original Castle Street base to a more modern working environment at Riverside, and is in the process of recruiting a new technical member of staff.

Christopher adds "post the 2008 financial crisis, market conditions have been very challenging but I believe our company has the right mix of skill and expertise to guide our clients during this difficult period. We see this anniversary not so much as a coming of age, but a milestone in the company's continuing development."
